Joop van den Ende is founder of Joop van den Ende Theaterproducties; Endemol, one of the world’s leading television production companies and Stage Entertainment. The company has become one of the world’s largest theatrical production companies and own and operates a European theatre network. Stage Entertainment has won numerous awards, including: Tony Awards for original musical Titanic, 42nd Street, Into the Woods and Urinetown. In 2011, original musical Sister Act, a co-production with Whoopi Goldberg, was nominated for four Olivier Awards on the West End and five Tony Awards for its transfer to Broadway. The show subsequently became a global smash hit, playing internationally in Hamburg, Berlin, Oberhausen, Stuttgart, Montreal, Vienna, Milan, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Korea, Brazil, Tokyo, the Netherlands and Singapore. Original musical Anastasia, premiered on Broadway in April 2017. Joop van den Ende is involved as an investor and Senior Producer on TINA, which premiered in London in 2018 and on Broadway in 2019. In 2001, Joop van den Ende and his wife Janine established the VandenEnde Foundation, one of the largest private culture funds in the Netherlands, supporting cultural and educational projects and promoting entrepreneurship in the cultural sector. Van den Ende was awarded several times, including three Royal Honors, two honorary doctorates and an award from the city of Amsterdam.
