Orchestrator

Ethan is a Grammy Award nominated Music Producer and two-time Tony Award nominated Orchestrator.  With a career spanning over the last twenty years, his work as a Music Supervisor, Arranger, Orchestrator and Music Producer has been seen and heard worldwide.  Starting in 2013, Ethan served as the Music Supervisor, Arranger and Orchestrator for Broadway’s Motown The Musical, which earned him a 2013 Tony Award nomination for Best Orchestrations (along with Co-Orchestrator Bryan Crook). He also received a 2014 Grammy Award nomination for Best Musical Theater Album (as Music Producer of the show’s Original Broadway Cast Recording, along with Co-Producer Frank Filipetti). 

Most recently Ethan was nominated for a 2020 Tony Award for his work on TINA

Ethan served as the Music Supervisor for the Broadway world premiere and 2016 Tony Award nominated Best Musical School of Rock, Music Supervisor for the Broadway premiere and 2015 Tony Award winning Best Musical Revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch starring Neil Patrick Harris and as Music Supervisor, Arranger and Orchestrator for the 2008 Tony Award nominated Best Musical, Rock Of Ages (Broadway, Toronto, US Tour, Australia, West End), for which he also co-produced the highly acclaimed Original Broadway Cast Recording. In addition, he served as the Music Director of the US Tour of Forever Plaid, and as Associate Music Director of the Mexico City production of Radio City Music Hall’s Christmas Spectacular, starring the Radio City Rockettes. 

While living in Europe from 2001 through 2005, Ethan conducted the German premiere of Mamma Mia!, Disney’s Aida and Queen’s We Will Rock You

He currently serves as Orchestrator for the West End hit musical Back to the Future at the Adelphi Theatre and as the Music Supervisor, Arranger and Orchestrator for the upcoming Broadway world premiere of Mrs. Doubtfire, based on the classic 20thCentury Fox film of the same name.

On television, Ethan has served as a Music Producer, Arranger and Orchestrator on NBC/Universal’s Smash and HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. His work on the big screen can be heard most notably as Music Director and Music Production Supervisor for the 20th Century Fox smash hit, The Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman and as Vocal and Piano Coach to Academy Award winner Rami Malek in his starring role in Bohemian Rhapsody
