CAREER INFORMATION
Choreographer
Anthony Van Laast
I trained as a dancer at the London School of Contemporary Dance, and went on to perform with London Contemporary Dance Theatre. As a choreographer I knew that I didn’t necessarily want to choreograph contemporary dance, and I learnt my craft through working on TV shows and commercials. I choreographed Kate Bush’s Tour of Life tour and was asked to choreograph Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Song and Dance in 1982, and have continued working ever since! I also teach dance, and have taught at the Royal Ballet School, Rambert and The Place.
I’m really interested in film work, I love what you can do with a camera, and have also lectured on this subject. I have worked on a lot of different films, as well as TV and the stage, and my film work includes Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Mamma Mia! and Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.
