Lighting Designer

Bruno is an internationally renowned lighting designer, working extensively across theatre, opera, dance and live music events. He has won two prestigious Knight of Illumination Awards, one for his lighting on the Sigur Ros 2012/13 World Tour and the other for Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein at the National Theatre, for which he also won the 2012 Olivier Award for Best Lighting Design. He has also designed the lighting for the current Sigur Ros World Tour, touring until the end of 2017.

His forthcoming theatre credits include Julius Caesar at Nicholas Hytner’s new Bridge Theatre and St George and the Dragon at the National Theatre. Other theatre includes Miss Saigon on Broadway, in the West End and on UK tour; Light Shining in Buckinghamshire, London Road, Timon of Athens, Treasure Island, From Morning to Midnight, Every Good Boy Deserves Favour, Travelling Light, Season’s Greetings all at the National Theatre; Fortune’s Fool, Sweet Bird of Youth, Cause Célèbre, All About My Mother all at The Old Vic; From Here To Eternity in the West End; Faith Healer, Phaedra at the Donmar Warehouse; Chaplin at Music Hall Belgium; The Two Gentlemen Of Verona, Romeo and Juliet for the Royal Shakespeare Company; Dumb Show at the Royal Court; Carousel for Théâtre du Châtelet/Opera North; Oliver! at Leicester Curve Theatre and A Prayer for My Daughter at the Young Vic.

Opera credits include Aida, Akhnaten (also LA Opera) and Carmen for English National Opera; Othello, Don Giovanni, The Rise and Fall of The City of Mahogonny at the Royal Opera House; Rinaldo at the Lyric Opera Chicago; Carmen on the lake at Bregenz Festival; Il Trovatore at the Macerata Festival; Das Liebesverbot for Madrid Teatro Real; Die Dreigroschenoper, Beatrice et Benedict at Teater an der Wein; Intimissi On Ice for Balich Worldwide/Verona Arena; Der Freischutz at the Royal Danish Opera; La Boheme for Washington National Opera; I Due Foscari for the Royal Opera House/LA Opera/Theater an der Wein. Bruno has also designed the lighting for 14 seasons at Garsington Opera.
